Ben Lapidge - Employee Spotlight
Ben Lapidge is a Graduate Celebrus Mobile Architect and part of the Professional Services team. Based in Berkshire, UK, Ben joined Celebrus in February 2023 and brings B2B marketing experience to the company.
Celebrus caught up with Ben to learn more about his position, hear his thoughts on company culture, and catch a glimpse of his life outside the regular nine to five.
Let’s kick things off with a few top-of-mind questions: Why Celebrus? What’s your role, what do you wish people knew about it, and what’s surprised you most?
Ben: I wanted to join a company that was different. Owing to my marketing background, I understood the importance of Celebrus’ technology for businesses and how unique it is in the market. My role is to help clients integrate our technology into their mobile apps. I focus on understanding how a client’s app is built, then make it as easy as possible to deploy our technology within it.
What I really wish people knew about my position is that no two apps are the same! Even functionally similar apps can be vastly different under-the-hood. It’s important to understand how they are built so we can integrate our technology in the best possible way.
As far as surprises about the position, this is my first technology role, so there have been a lot! The speed at which technology changes and how you’re constantly learning took me by surprise.
How would you describe Celebrus’ company culture? What makes it unique?
Ben: Celebrus is friendly, collaborative, and your efforts are recognized. I’ve found that people will go out of their way to share positive feedback, which is something I find greatly rewarding. Everyone here — no matter their level — is also happy to jump in and help tackle a challenge.
Now, for a couple of personal questions: If you could pick one destination for a spontaneous vacation, where would it be and why?
Ben: Australia. I was born and raised there but moved to the UK 10 years ago. I have friends and family in Australia, and I’m long overdue for a catch-up with them!
Finally, we all want to know: What’s something surprising that not many people know about you?
Ben: My cat is toilet trained. Like, he uses an actual human toilet. It always makes for an awkward moment when you open the door and he’s in there.
